Kristjana Helgadóttir - flute(s)

studied with B. Wilkinson at the Conservatory of Reykjavík, where she received a docent diploma in 1994 and a performance diploma in 1995, both with the mark excellent. She continued her studies with Abbie de Quant and Harrie Starreveld at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and received a Master diploma in 1998 and a certificate diploma in modern music in 1999. Kristjana is a founding member of the Icelandic Trio Artis, established in 2001, and has been a regular member of the ensemble adapter from the start in 2004. She has given various concerts with both solo and chamber music in many northern countries as well as in Italy, the Netherlands and in France. She has been working as a freelance flutist with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, and she is a member of the Icelandic Opera Orchestra. Kristjana Helgadóttir is also a music teacher and head of a department at the music school of Mosfellsbær in Iceland. In February 2005 she founded the Music Association of Mosfellsbær, organizing a regular concert series.
